Bureaucracy at its finest: FEMA's (Federal Embarrassment Mismanagement Agency) response to hurricane Katrina is a national flub, a bungle, a botch! These are the guys we count on to help us out? Here's one example: Volunteers from across the nation, firefighters and paramedics, have left the relative safety of their hometowns to help the rescue in the gulf. What does FEMA do? Has them sit through sensitivity training and then hand out fliers. Fifty of the volunteers got a more important assignment - they stood by "our president" (bush the minor) for a photo-op. These trained professionals left their jobs protecting their own families and cities to end up handing out fliers and standing for photo-ops. This is our federal government. Prior to the hurricane, the local government's response was to yell; "GET OUT! Yer on yer own" and then run away to higher ground; abandoning those who could not get out themselves. These are the people we count on? I think I will need to get a gun or two before the second amendment is repealed. At least the local government was honest... "Yer on yer own."

A constitutional amendment to prohibit gay marriages? FUCKING ASSHOLES! Get out of people's bedrooms! If gays wanna get married, let them.  The constitution is supposed to convey and enumerate rights, not prohibit them. This is not a subject for the constitution, it is the subject of a bunch of right-wing whackos that don't feel comfortable when people of the same gender share in a loving relationship. Long-term relationships stabilize society. It would stimulate the economy. Just think of all that wedding related spending and the taxes. There is no rational argument for being against gay marriage. At least I have not heard one. I don't think I ever will either. If we need to amend the constitution, let me suggest this; "No more fortunate sons from Texas can be president."

bullet

I have never been more annoyed by a president (Bush 2:The Fortunate Son). And I grew up during the Nixon/Ford and Carter administrations.

And another thing on this illegal immigration issue. The bleeding hearts claim that we need the illegal immigrants because Americans would not deign to do the work they do. I can't argue with that, but they should look in a mirror when they ask who is not willing to do that work. This American did the dirty work. I picked fruit, I cleaned toilets, I mucked-out saw pits, I bussed tables. I think that my generation (Class of 78) was the last generation to have a majority of people who worked in these jobs when they were young. These bleeding hearts mostly hail from academia on their parents' dime, and god forbid they would ever get their hands dirty. After all, they have degrees, don't ya know. The horrors! What would their parents think after spending all that money on tuition just to have junior bussing tables? They would, rather than do the dirty work, not work at all. Elitist little shits with their heads up their asses.

It's killing me to have to vote NO on the recall. Beavis Davis has thoroughly colossally screwed up many times. But voting is a strategy game. If the recall passes, it seems like no matter who wins, they will be the victim of another recall. California can't afford this bullshit. But you have to have a backup plan. Cruzamante seems to be the best choice for the job (even though he totally sucks ass), he's already up on the learning curve. Arnie for governor; I shudder at the thought. Larry Flint? Could be. McClintock? Please no. There's so many to choose from among 134 candidates.

bullet

Gravis Davis in a last ditch effort to pander the Latino vote, signed a bill to give illegal immigrants the privilege of having a drivers license. I do not support giving privileges to people who's mere existence in this country constitutes a criminal act. Without fail, the bleeding-hearts started spouting the usual worn-out clichés along the lines of: "the white man is the illegal immigrant", "we [whities] stole the west from Mexico..." Oh wait, I hear a song... "We are the world...we are the children"  These "arguments" are unadulterated bullshit and just part of the politically correct rhetoric. And, if you feel that way; then do the right thing and get out. There is no solution proposed in these "arguments", it's just an appeal to emotions intended to make people feel bad. It's not even an argument, it's poppycock. I don't buy into this "white man's guilt trip" at all. I have never oppressed, enslaved, exploited, discriminated, abused or waged unjust wars upon anyone. Nor do I have any plans to do so in the future. So I have nothing to feel guilty about. This stuff happened more than a hundred years ago. What are we supposed to do? Give California back to Mexico? How far do we go back? Before Mexico was conquered by the Spaniards, it belonged to the Inca's and Aztecs. Before that the dinosaurs. What's that chanting? "Save the dinosaurs! It's for the Children" They are the champions of all the oppressed but without a fucking clue or real contribution to a viable solution. They stoop to name-calling and invective. For my "attitude", I have been accused of being a racist. I was accused of being rude and condescending toward illegal immigrants. When, in reality, I was only being rude and condescending toward these bleeding-heart, hogwash arguments. Others say that "it's too hard to become a legal resident." To this I say; "good." Or the INS is a overgrown lumbering paper tiger. Well name a part of government that isn't! The fact of the matter is this; these geo-political entities called countries have borders. The rules are different on either side. When you're on one side of the border you should play by the rules inside that border. Border hopping is frowned upon. In the bleeding heart's mind, the idea of just rolling over and letting the borders be over-run is the politically correct thing to do. Dammit where's that music coming from? "Kumbaya... kumbaya" No matter how stupid and unrealistic that idea is, rather than address the issue, these people wallow in their close-minded world, militantly accusing people of racism unaware that their own closed mind is a bigoted mind.

bullet

I wonder; is bleeding heart is a misnomer? Maybe it should be "bleeting" heart (as in the sounds sheep make) constantly repeating the same party line from the sixties. Weah weah weah weah weah. Make that music go away!  "I'd like to teach the world to sing..."

I know why doctors charge so much. They are just shitty in regards to business operations. Two examples. One doctor, has just sent me a bill for services rendered TWO YEARS AGO! Maybe I am just too traditional. I think it is tacky to ask for payment while in the office. I would never think a doctor would call me after a minor surgery to remind me how much I owe him. But that really happened. I have always expected a bill within a few days of going to the doctor or the dentist. I have no problem paying the bills. It's not like I am going to skip out on it. But two years?! That's just sloppy. The other example: A doctor sent us a non-bill. It said "THIS IS NOT A BILL" Why bother? Save a stamp. Next, the doctor sends a bill to our insurance. Of course, the insurance only pays part of the claim and says on their non-bill to us that we are only responsible for a very small percentage of the total. Then the doctor sends us another bill - a real bill this time - asking for the entire balance. Not only that, but enclosed was a letter pleading with us to help them get all the money they billed to the insurance company, a sob story about how their scheduling and billing departments don't know what's going on and that we must continue with regular monthly payments. (The entire balance.) Now, if the doctor is contracted with this insurance company, he is required to eat the difference in the payments, not pass it on to the patient. But not this guy, he wants it all. He even claims not to be contracted with the insurance company, but the insurance company says he is.

Let it be known that, growing up, I had my share of zucchini. I had your share of zucchini. I have had it sautéed, stuffed, muffined, frittered, grilled, deep fried, battered, cookied, baked, caked, boiled, broiled, braised and breaded. I have had enough zucchini. In fact, I have already consumed my lifetime allotment of zucchini. I will not eat any more zucchini. There's more zucchini left for the rest of you.

Hmmm, the FBI says that the guy who shot some people at LAX on the 4th of July 2002 intended to kill people. Seems like the big shakeup at the FBI after 9/11 has really cleared their heads.  Good work guys.

Hey STUPID! What have I said about firing guns into the air? Not only does the bullet invariably fall back to earth, you may get a two thousand pound bomb lobbed at you. So KNOCK.IT.OFF.

OK, so we bombed the crap out of Afghanistan. What has been accomplished? Burned up rubble is now reduced to smaller, more burned up rubble. India and Pakistan are getting nuclear-uppity, Saddam is being manipulative and the Palestinians and Israelis are shootin' it up. I say we give Kashmir to the Palestinians and see what happens next.

bullet

The "Department of Homeland Security"; George the Second's latest crusade. Things are getting out of hand. More bureaucracy does not solve anything. Haven't we learned yet? We have an energy czar, yet we have the Enron fiasco and the California blackouts. We have a drug czar, yet people are still wasted, and think alcohol is not a drug.

bullet

carey stainer is being put on trial again, for murder again. He is already convicted of murder for another killing. Isn't this getting a little redundant? What a colossal waste of resources to do this when he is already sentenced to life in prison. Isn't that enough already? Can't we move on now? Maybe it provides closure for the victim's families. Maybe it's a formality so that California can legally kill him. I have no sympathy for the defendant at all. Guilty, Guilty, Guilty. Unfortunately, If the state wins its case, we get to put up with the appeals process and even more waste of resources.  If the state loses, the people win because we will still have that sicko in prison. Can't we just shoot him?

The Guv, Gray Davis, in another stroke of fiscal irresponsibility is going to get more bonds approved to pay off the bonds he already has. This is all part of the Californian energy gouging crisis. Gray thinks that by using the bond money to lower electricity prices, he will enamor the voting public and win another term. This is like paying one credit card bill with another credit card. Eventually the buck has to stop somewhere and it WILL end up coming out of our paychecks. Of course, by then, Guv Gray's term will be up and he'll probably move to Texas. We will get stuck holding the bag. This is extra suckworthy for us because we don't get gouged on our electrical bill. It's non-profit public power. So we get to subsidize all the poor slobs that have been getting reamed by SoCal Edison, PG&E and SDG&E. Lovely.

Hi, my name is Nick and I am a word Nazi. People, there is a difference between lose and loose, loser and looser. There is a difference between site and sight. There is a difference between your, and yore and you're. There is a difference between its and it's. There is a difference between their, they're and there. These words are are not freely interchangeable. When I call people on their spelling, grammar and word usage errors, they will invariably respond: "It doesn't matter as long as I got my point across." My standard reply is: "The points you conveyed to me were: 1) You do not respect the reader, 2) You lack attention to detail, 3) You are semi-literate, 4) You are a slob. Did I miss something?"

What the hell is so hard about prosecuting the Marin taliban as a traitor? Have the lawyers screwed up the interpretation of this so badly that would be difficult to prove? Seems pretty simple to me: Side A and Side T are at war. An idiot on side T (shooting at Side A) claims citizenship to Side A when captured. Erm isn't that the simplest definition of treason?

Christmas trees in Kandahar... heh heh heh, I bet that is really irking the taliban.

I can sympathize with the parents of the "Marin Taliban", their son is a loser. However, I have no problem with prosecuting this IDIOT to the full extent of the law. Treason, sedition, and murder are all valid charges and this guy should be hung out to dry.

Keep the bombing going on Fridays for CRYING OUT LOUD. This is a WAR. Should we stop on Sundays because it's a Christian day of worship? What about Saturday for the Jews? I knew some Born-Agains that worshiped on Monday Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. That would only leave Tuesday and Thursday open for bombing, and that's not enough. Anyway, if we keep saying this is NOT a war against Islam, then quit singling them out. Regarding a possible cessation of hostilities for Ramadan, Never forget what happened in Vietnam during the Tet "Cease-Fire".

Out of the nearly 16 Megabytes of content on this site, the thing that gets the most comments is my view on "Reproduction Credits." Don't get your panties all in a bunch over this, and don't take it the wrong way. I love kids (most of time).

bullet

THE END OF THE MILLENNIUM IS NEXT YEAR DAMMIT. (2001) Due to media hype and peoples enchantment with the rollover of three nines to three zeroes, the twentieth century will only be 99 years long and the second millennium will only be 999 years long. Maybe by the year three thousand, people will figure it out. THERE WAS NO YEAR ZERO ! We started with the year ONE. ONE PLUS ONE HUNDRED EQUALS ONE HUNDRED AND ONE, NOT NINETY NINE.

bullet

Here we go again... Comrade Clinton wants to enhance the reproduction credit even more!! When people want reproduce, and take time off from work that's just fine, protecting their jobs is fine too. BUT NOW Willy thinks that these people should get PAID TIME OFF!?!?! I would like to have an extended period of paid time off with my job held for my return. I would like to persue some endeavor and have someone else pay for it. I could do ANYTHING, just not reproduce. There's no chance of funding that. However I would get the "pleasure" of subsidizing someone else's paid time off through my higher taxes.

The name of the imbecile responsible for the train crossing Central Expressway in Mountain View is: Greg Gleichman. His excuse follows..."When I was the transportation planner for Mountain View from 1988 to 1990, the transportation agency's original plan was for light rail to tunnel under the expressway and the Caltrain tracks. When it left the tunnel, the light rail tracks would run on the surface between the Caltrain tracks and Evelyn Avenue to the downtown Mountain View Caltrain station. At the time, Mountain View and Sunnyvale were competing to be the terminus of the light rail line. Because the route to Mountain View was longer, we had to get the costs down. That tunnel was a big fat target. The rest, as they say, is history. "  The rest as I say is "What a blithering idiot !!!!" What's next, crossing gates on 101 and 280 in the name of mass transit ?!?!? They say there will be a crossing every four minutes during rush hour. Get ready for gridlock. This is going to get ugly really fast, there will be nasty accidents at this crossing, guaranteed. In the name of saving money, we will be wasting lives. The average speed is around 55 MPH (when there's no cops)...   I have an inspired idea... We should put speed bumps on Central Expressway...

What is the deal with this "reproduction credit." It seems like the government is still working in the ancient mindset that making babies should be rewarded. I fail to see the logic in this. Why give credit to people that are putting more load on the system. People that don't have children are being forced to subsidize people who do. Slick Willie proposed yet even more tax credits for people making babies. I don't like it one bit. Give credit where credit is due, to the people without kids.
