Bathroom Day 1

Home Up Next

8/9/99: (I moved to Sillycon Valley on 8/9/82) We had a disappointing start to the bathroom project. First we need to make our bathtub in the other bathroom into a shower. We went to Home Depot and got one of those "diverting" spigots and a shower massage handle for the tub. The spigot is a total piece of crap! It was made all nice and metal on the outside but it's plastic on the inside. Plastic is not bad if done right, this wasn't. It was a total "afterthought design" the thing leaked like crazy becuase A) It's a crappy design, B)The glue (GLUE?!) can't hold up to our water pressure. What a piece of junk... What a piece of  Twenty Three US American Dollar JUNK! I'm returning it.  That all the progress to date for us, the stain however, is making much more progress. It has taken up pretty much the half of the bathroom floor now. Jeesh, We MUST FIX THIS before it becomes a "split-level" bathroom.

12/18/99: We finished ordering all the major raw materials from Southern Lumber. Some pieces have already been delivered (The vanity)  and some still need to be picked out.  The new shower stall will have walls and base made of swanstone. We have not decided on the glass parts of the shower stall yet. Still need to get a new terlet as well. The swanstone,  wood, sheetrock, greenboard etc. will all be delivered on 12/21/99. Destruction of the bathroom will probably start on 12/20/99. Stay tuned!

12/19/99: The second bathroom is ready for use as our new primary bathroom. In order to convert our tub into a shower, we stapled up plastic sheeting to protect the walls of the bathtub surround and installed a temporary shower head. We moved all our stuff from the master bath into the new temporary master bath.
