Closet Remodel

Back Home Up Next

The holiday 2003 project was supposed to be remodeling our closets. I got halfway through the first closet and came down with the flu (feh). I figured I would document what has been done so far. Then I will crawl back into bed and be miserable some more. We are using the EasyTrack closet organizer system. We got them from Southern Lumber Company OK, I'm back and feeling well enough to finish off the project albeit slowwly and with many breaks in between steps.

As usual, click on the thumbnail for a larger photograph.

Ro's Closet

Here is the closet before getting started on the transformation. I didn't get a shot of Ro's "before" closet. She had it all emptied out before I had the chance.

Step one, remove the sliding doors. Here's the closet with the old shelves removed.
Step two, remove the old shelves and clothes rod. And now with a fresh coat of paint...
Step three, spackle the holes and level a line for the easy track. I am using my cool laser level - a present from Ro. Here's the organizer panels going in. Take special note of the inspector.
Step four, paint over all the scars from removing the old shelves and stuff. Another shot of the organizers going in...
Step five, hang the hanging bar. The boy checking the structural integrity of the shelves.
Step six, install the first column: Drawers and Shelves. The last shot before the doors go back on.
Step seven, install the second column: Hanging rods for shirts and pants.
Step eight, refill the closet with the contents and re-install the doors.
