Work Experience
Software Design:
Develop and document programs to automate the testing of RFID readers, antennas, RF/microwave amplifiers, converters,
mixers, receivers, tuners, YIG filters & oscillators and other RF/microwave subsystems and components. Maintain and revise software to meet changing needs. Maintain and contribute to a library of reusable code for test software development. I am fluent in the use of LabView and BASIC. Capable knowledge of: C
for DOS, Windows, i8051, AVR & PIC environments, Visual BASIC, Help Compiler, LabWindows/CVI,
HT Basic, Rocky Mountain BASIC, VEE, HTML, ASP, Javascript,
SQL, VHDL, Envision & Cadence.
Hardware Design:
Design, supervise, and document the construction of multi-bay test equipment racks. Design and document RF, DC and digital interface units to connect the device under test to the automated test systems. (ATS) Direct digital synthesizer, DC to 5 MHz in .002 Hz steps. Generic, register-based VXI system interface module. Numerous circuits required to duplicate customer test conditions: I/O loads, drivers, temperature sensors, serial interfaces, parallel interfaces. Operational knowledge of the following equipment: PC compatible computers, HP Series 9000 workstations,
Sun Workstations, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, noise figure meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, time-frequency interval analyzers, pulse/function generators, RF/microwave signal sources, power meters and anything else with buttons and lights.
Analysis:
Develop test plans from specifications for device under test. Determine tradeoffs between price and performance for test equipment required to perform the testing. Analyze and correct errors in measurements. Determine level of automation required based on throughput, delivery rates and production rates. Maintain failure log for ATS. Identify trends or patterns in failures and implement solutions.
Planning:
Create and maintain Gannt charts for development of ATS. Determine resource requirements for bringing projects to completion on time. Coordinate with vendors for delivery of test equipment and components. Develop floor plan requirements for ATS. Coordinate with plant facilities for installation of utilities required for ATS.
Supervision:
Coordinated and supervised the work of up to nine electronic technicians: five senior technicians and four lower level technicians. Set goals for employee growth and wrote annual evaluations of performance against goals.
Training:
Provide training for technicians operating and building ATS. Assist technicians and engineers performing manual measurements. Create and present a seminar on the use of a reusable code library for test software development. Mentor new test engineers in the processes, policies and procedures involved for ATS development.
